Chairperson of the University of Ghana Staff Market, popularly known as Bush Canteen, Madam Faustina Akyerema Yeboah says stringent measures have been put in place to enforce COVID-19 protocols at the canteen.
This comes after an attempted closure of the market by the Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate (PDMSD).
PDMSD had served a notice to the market that it would be closed down as patrons and vendors were not adhering to COVID-19 protocols.
But Madam Yeboah, in an interview with UniversNews, said that efforts have been made to make available the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) at the market for both students and vendors to ensure that COVID protocols are adhered to.
“We have placed security personnel at the entrance to ensure that students put on their masks before entering.
Also, we have provided veronica buckets, liquid soaps, sanitizers and also ensured that chairs are well spaced to enforce the practice of social distancing,” she said.
She hinted at punitive measures that have been arranged for vendors who flout COVID-19 protocols in the market.
