Five aspirants in the 2021 Kwapong Junior Common Room (JCR) elections stand to lose their residential statuses in the Hall as a result of “unnecessary suits, countersuits, accusations, counter-accusations, injunctions, and petitions” against the electioneering process.

Their conduct, according to the Senior Hall Tutor, has caused an unconducive atmosphere for the peaceful conduct of student elections in the hall.

He noted: “I have met with you [aspirants] on two occasions to encourage you to stop the suits, countersuits, and injunctions and allow peace to prevail in the hall; you never paid heed to my encouragements.”

In a letter dated July 28, 2021, the Tutor, Dr. Seth Boateng, said their consistent legal suits “have caused too much trauma and discomfort to the JCR Electoral Commission and the entire JCR Parliament.”

“…it is becoming unattractive for responsible students of our Hall to take up positions of members of parliament electoral commissioners. These actions of yours are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately.”

“Additionally, your actions have unnecessarily and avoidably resulted in so much cost to the JCR account in terms of legal fees which could have been avoided if you had acted as credible aspirants, acted in good faith, also sought the wellbeing of the Hall that you belong,” he recounted.

The five aspirants, Nana Yaa Gyamfi, Kelvin Osae Quansah, Pierretta Elinam Alaglo, Randa Grace Ekuban, and King George Amuaben have therefore been warned to demonstrate good behaviour if they wish to continue residing in the hall.

“You are therefore cautioned to conduct yourselves credibly in your barn. Failure to conduct yourselves well will leave me with no option than to revoke your residential status in the interest of peaceful student governance in the hall,” Dr Boateng warned.
