Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Mariano Barrreto has gone hard at the club again, this time arguing that the team is not a big team they perceive to be in Ghana football.
His comments come just a few days after he said Kotoko’s training ground (Adako Jachie) does not befit the status of the club because players ease themselves in the bushes when they go for training.
The Porcupine Warriors are the most successful club in Ghana, having won the Premier League 24 times and were once champions of Africa but the Portuguese coach disagree,
He believes the team is just big in name and not in terms of status.
“I know Asante Kotoko fans won’t be happy with this but I must say it,
“Asante Kotoko is only a big name and not a big team because they lack so many things a big team should be having.
“A big team should be having their own physiotherapy room, a strong youth team, philosophy, and video room, amongst other infrastructure.” He told Nhyira FM.
The gaffer also said it will be insulting to him if he continues to work as head coach of the Porcupine Warriors in the same conditions of the club.
“It will be an insult on me if I continue as head coach of Asante Kotoko in the same conditions I have already complained about.
“There are other coaches out there who will be happy to work in these conditions and not me.”
Barreto led the Porcupine Warriors to a second-place finish in the just ended 2020/21 Ghana Premier League after replacing Maxwell Konadu in December 2020.
