Prior to his election, he was the second Vice-President of the Authority.

He polled 54 votes to beat competition from his contender Henry Manly-Spain, who only managed 46 of the total 100 votes cast.

Mr. Neequaye, who served as a second Vice President under the just-ended administration of Lawyer Peter Zwennes, says he will consult the latter on the way forward.

“We worked together and I am glad to have him as a predecessor. I will seek his wise counsel in all key matters because he has great experience,” he said after his election.

The NDC Parliamentary candidate who contested and lost the Okaikoi South Constituency seat during the 2020 General Elections, replaces Peter Zweenes, who had served two terms as GBA President following his election in 2013.

The losing candidate, Henry Manly-Spain says he is taking a step back from the sport, following his crushing defeat to Abraham Kotei Neequaye.

I have no other option than to accept the results. I think what I told them, they weren’t content with it. It’s somehow not bad because for me,  this time around I am going to sit back and see how things are going to turn out if there’s any advice that anyone wants from me, I will be there to advise him.”

Rabbon Doodo will serve as 1st Vice President and boxing referee Roger Bannor as 2nd Vice President.

Patrick Johnson retained his position as General Secretary and Lord Acquaye as Treasurer.

The following people have also been elected onto the GBA Executive Board:

  1. Michael NeeQuaye
  2. Shadrack Acquaye
  3. Carl Lokko
  4. Alhaji Toufik
