Existing private universities currently affiliated with the various public in the country have up to four to five years to go through a process to be chartered, Minister of Education-designate, Dr Yaw Adutwum has said.

The deadline comes after the Parliament of Ghana passed the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023) into law to suspend the affiliation policy for all new tertiary institutions.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament said he will review the huge amount of fees private universities in Ghana are currently paying to public universities as their affiliates.
