Bright Philip Donkor is the 2020 Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Eminence Awards Online Media Personality of the Year.
At the awards ceremony held on Friday evening at the Global Ovations-Hub, majority of GIJ students were celebrated and honored for their contributions in the media landscape.
Bright was recognized for how consistent he’s expressed his views on social, gender, economic, political and educational issues through inspiring and thought-provoking articles published in MyJoyOnline, The Finder, GhanaWeb, ModernGhana and other online media platforms. He’s an Online Journalist for Ahomka TV. He’s the African Journalists for Economic Opportunity Training (AJEOT-2020) Best Article Writer and CSA’20 award winner – Best Online Journalist of the Year respectively.
Speaking after receiving the awards, the columnist expressed profound gratitude to God saying he takes consolation from the word. He said that the awards form excellent morale-booster that’ll encourage him to continue doing his best.
He encouraged young people that exceptional achievements are within their reach when they stand tall on a foundation of personal integrity, hard work and unwavering determination.
“I know I still have much to learn. I’m not going to rest on my laurels but will continuously work my ass off and will encourage all students and young people to remain focused and prayerful. May the brilliant glow of our achievements light the way to our success.”
He is majoring in Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies (Journalism Option) as a L300 student. He’s an Author, and a Prolific Feature Writer; a pacesetter, innovative and taking up challenges.
The awards ceremony on Friday enabled the RAD Communications Limited (RADCommLLC) to celebrate excellence in journalism by recognizing and honoring various students, lectures and alumni of the institute who are excelling in their various fields. The ceremony was the 5th edition of the GIJ Eminence Awards.
Honory awards were presented to a number of personalities who have distinguished themselves creditably.
