The Ghana Football Association Appeals Committee has vacated sanctions imposed on Phar Rangers directors and shareholders, dismissing the initial decision of the Disciplinary Committee.

Early last month the GFA Disciplinary Committee found Phar Rangers guilty of misconduct after the club withdrew from all local sporting competitions, including the ongoing Division One League.

In their ruling, they slapped a five-year ban on the club and its officials.

Phar Rangers, however, filed for a review of the Disciplinary Committee’s ruling.

The GFA Appeals Committee, in their ruling on Wednesday, July 21, demoted the club to the Division Three league.

They also described the ban on shareholders of the club as one without basis.

“Sanctions against the shareholders of Phar Rangers is without any basis in the Regulations of the Division One League and we hereby set same aside.”

We are of  the view that a demotion to two levels below Division One, which is Division Three in the Eastern Region is harsh enough to serve as a deterrent to all Clubs participating in the competitions organized by Ghana Football Association.”
