T. I. Ahmadiyya SHS qualifies for Finals of 2021 National Independence Quiz

T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Kumasi is in the finals of the ongoing National Independence (History, Fourth Republican constitution, and Current Affairs) Quiz Competition which will be held in Accra on Sunday, 28th February 2021.

The journey was started within the District level, then to the Greater Districts, again to the Regional and Zonals (inter Regionals).

The accounts, as to how we got to the finals are as follows.

We started at the metropolitan level by meeting the following schools in the preliminary stage

KUMASI METRO LEVEL

1. Kumasi Anglican SHS
2. Serwaa Nyarko Girls SHS
3. Kumasi Wesley Girls
4. Seventh Day Adventist SHS, Bantama
5. Kumasi Senior High Technical School.
6.T.I. AMASS SHS, Ksi.

Kumasi Metro had two preliminary contests, therefore there was another contest aside from ours, as enumerated above. Opoku Ware School emerged victorious in the other contest which had 6 participating schools as well, therefore we met them at the Finals at the metro level.

We overpowered Opoku Ware School with 37 Pts as against 31 Pts and emerged the Victors at Kumasi Metro.

We then progressed to the next stage, which is to meet the schools who had won at the Greater Kumasi Districts.

GREATER KUMASI STAGE

1. Kumasi Academy (Asokore Mampong Municipal)
2. Al-Azariya SHS (Old Tafo Municipal)
3. Kumasi High School (Asokwa Municipal)
4. Pentecost Senior High School (Suame Municipal)
5. St. Louis Girls’ SHS (Oforikrom Municipal)
6. T.I. AMASS SHS, Ksi (Kumasi Metro)

Again, we won against all these schools and progressed to the Regional level to meet the other Districts who were grouped in Divisions.

SUPER ZONALS AT THE REGIONAL STAGE

1. Bekwai SDA (Amansie Division zone)
2. Toase SHS (Ahafo Division zone )
3. Konongo Odumasi (Asante Akyem Division zone)
4. Osei Tutu II College (Atwima Division zone)
5. Amaniampong SHS (Sekyere Division Zone)
6. T. I. Amass, Fomena (Adansi Division zone)
7. T. I. Amass, Kumasi (Greater Kumasi Zone)

We emerged victorious and had to represent Ashanti Region in a Four Zone Inter-Regional Competition. By this the 16 regions in the republic were grouped into four zones. We were therefore in Zone 3 which comprised Ashanti, Central, Western and Western North Regions.

INTER-REGIONAL STAGE

The Zone 3 Contest was held on Friday, 19th February 2021 at the Christ Apostolic Church, BIBIANI, Western North Region.

At the end of the Contest, the results were as follows:

1. Ashanti Region (T. I. Amass Kumasi) 52 Points

2. Western Region (Archbishop Porter Girls’ SHS) 50 Points

3. Central Region (Apam SHS) 46 Points

4. Western North Region (Bodi SHS) 32 Points.

We again emerged victorious and will be representing Zone 3 at the National level. As stated earlier the team will travel to Accra to compete at the National Finals on Sunday, 28th February 2021. The contest will be aired live on GTV and it will be hosted by Dan Afari Yeboah of “WHAT DO YOU KNOW” fame
