The Government of Ghana (GoG) this year will provide 280,000 states of the art laptops to teacher unions including members of the GNAT, NAGRAT and CCT, President Akufo-Addo announced Tuesday, March 9 in Parliament.

He gave this assurance speaking in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second-term government monitored by Educationweb.com.gh on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Parliament House, Accra.

“I am happy to announce the government is facilitating 280,000 laptops to members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition Of Concern Teachers (CCT),” His Excellency stated in his address to the state.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, prioritising the welfare of teachers in the country is his government’s key objective, hence the facilitating of the 280,000 states of the art laptops to teacher unions this year.

He furthered that that the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament and Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum at the appropriate time will detail an action plan for the implementation of the National Teacher Policy.

Akufo-Addo listed the Free Wi-Fi in all the Senior High Schools (SHS), full absorption of WASSCE and BECE registration fees of students in public JHSs, SHSs as part of the academic intervention support programme.
