CABESA DECIDES: 10 aspirants file nomination for 5 portfolios; presidential aspirants seeking second-run

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology goes to the polls in June and July to elect its next batch of student leaders.

Following the release of the 2021 electoral calender by the SRC Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Emmanuel Obeng Awuah, alot of decentralised activities have taken place.

The College of Art and Built Environment Students Association, one of the 6 colleges, led by Mr. Kwame Takyi has less than 15 days to elect the new leaders for the 2021/2022 academic year.

On Thursday, May 20, the Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Owusu Banahene Osei served notice on the opening of nominations. The 5-day window has seen 10 aspirants take turn to battle 5 key portfolios at the College.

As at the close of nominations, 2 second-runners in the person of Alhassan Musah of construction technology management 3 and Duah Ahenkorang Louis of Industrial Art 3 have picked forms to battle the presidential portfolio. After loosing out to the incumbent president in the 2020 elections, one will finally taste victory.

Also, 3 aspirants, 2 of which are females are vying for the general secretary role. For the first time, Mr. Agyepong Samuel Kwadwo is the first non-female seeking to defy the odds. The 2 others are Ansah Emmanuella Amankorah and Edusei Julienne Yaa.

Mr. Cornelius Papa Kwarteng of construction technology management 3 is taking a chance at the financial secretary role for the second time.

The Women’s Commissioner role is been battled by Miss Audrey Nyarkoh, 3rd year development planning and Miss Francisca Amankrah, 2nd year Publishing.

Mr. Prince Donkor and Miss Agnus Arthson, 3rd and 2nd year will be battling for the Organising Secretary role.

According to the Electoral Commission timetable, vetting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 2 2021.
